Case Study: Extending Candidate Reach Through Paid Social Recruitment Campaigns

Introduction

APG Workforce is one of Australia’s leading national workforce management companies, providing labour hire, temporary recruitment and permanent recruitment services across industries including farming and agriculture, transport and distribution, and manufacturing. With vacancies often needing to be filled quickly and across multiple locations, APG needed a more targeted way to bring priority roles to the attention of relevant candidates.

Prominence supported APG with a coordinated social recruitment approach combining featured job content, paid social advertising and an overarching social media strategy. The aim was to increase the visibility of urgent and high-volume vacancies, strengthen the consistency of candidate-facing communications and help APG reach beyond its existing organic audience.

The Challenge

Labour hire recruitment is fast-moving. Hiring demand can change quickly, roles are often location-specific and candidates need clear information about pay, shifts, start dates and working conditions before deciding whether to apply. Relying on organic social posts alone can make it difficult to reach enough suitable people at the right time, particularly for urgent or high-volume campaigns.

APG needed a flexible approach that could support immediate vacancy promotion while remaining consistent with its people-first brand. Success meant making priority opportunities easier to find, presenting them clearly and giving each campaign the best possible chance of reaching candidates in the relevant locations.

Our Approach

Targeted Paid Social Campaigns

Prominence used paid social advertising to extend the reach of selected vacancies beyond APG’s existing followers. Campaign audiences could be refined by location and candidate relevance, helping featured roles appear in front of people who were more likely to be able to travel to the site, work the required shifts and consider the type of opportunity being advertised.

Candidate-Focused Featured Job Content

Featured job posts were structured around the information candidates need to make a quick decision. Messaging highlighted the role, location, key benefits, working arrangements and next step, with clear calls to action designed to reduce uncertainty and encourage applications. This made the content practical and easy to scan while maintaining a consistent APG presence.

Integrated Social Media Strategy

Paid activity was supported by a broader social media strategy so that featured vacancies did not sit in isolation. Prominence helped create a more coordinated approach to timing, messaging and presentation, allowing organic content and advertising to work together and keeping APG visible to both active jobseekers and people who may not have been searching at that exact moment.

The Results

The activity gave APG a more structured and scalable way to promote priority vacancies through social media. By combining clear featured job content with targeted paid reach, the campaign supported:

  • Greater visibility for priority roles in the locations where candidates were needed.
  • A more consistent and professional presentation of vacancies across social channels.
  • Faster deployment of promotional activity for urgent and high-volume hiring requirements.
  • Stronger alignment between paid advertising and APG’s ongoing organic social presence.
  • Reduced reliance on existing followers and organic reach alone to generate candidate awareness.

The Impact

Beyond individual vacancy campaigns, the work created a repeatable candidate attraction framework that APG could adapt across roles, regions and sectors. This supported the immediate need to generate awareness for featured jobs while also building a clearer and more recognisable recruitment presence over time.

The partnership demonstrated how targeted advertising and consistent social content can support a workforce business operating in a high-volume environment, balancing speed and flexibility with a candidate experience that reflects APG’s belief that people matter.

Key Takeaway

By bringing paid social advertising, featured job promotion and social strategy together, Prominence helped APG Workforce create a more targeted and responsive way to reach candidates. The result was not simply a series of job posts, but a practical recruitment marketing approach built to support changing workforce demand and strengthen APG’s visibility in the market.
